Paladin Changes in Forever

Forever’s Paladin redesign adds active tools to all three roles while preserving the class’s distinct limitations. The largest shared changes concern seals, Judgment, and abilities available outside the talent trees.
The shared toolkit
Holy Strike arrives at level 6 as an instant Holy-damage weapon attack with a 12-second cooldown. Consecration becomes baseline at level 20. Judgment no longer consumes seals, reducing the need to reapply them after each use.
Seal of Fury supports tanking through small absorb shields and a Judgment taunt. The taunt remains tied to the seal-and-Judgment system rather than a separate all-purpose button.
Holy
Holy gains support for varied healing and occasional damage. Reverence enables Spirit-based mana regeneration while casting. Infusion of Light connects Holy Shock and Flash of Light critical heals with faster Holy Light casts. Holy Shock moves to a 10-second cooldown.
Protection
Protection gains sustain and recovery options. Improved Seal of Fury returns mana when its shield absorbs damage, and Shield Specialization adds mana from blocks. Swift Judgment helps recover from a missed taunt. Reckoning can trigger from blocks, supporting tanks who avoid critical hits.
Retribution
Retribution receives a stronger melee identity while keeping hybrid spell-powered options. Sacred Arbiter enhances Holy Strike and refreshes Judgments. Twist of Light supports Seal Twisting by preserving the replaced Seal as an Echo for the next melee attack when you switch to a different supported Seal.
Turn the changes into a plan
For a tank, the key question is whether the next defensive is available when you need it. Templar’s Bulwark applies Forbearance, and Iron Creed connects Holy Strike to short-duration damage reduction while Righteous Fury is active. Plan those interactions around incoming damage instead of treating every defensive button as independently available.
For Retribution, write down the Seal you replace and the next swing that consumes its Echo. The sequence matters: a familiar Classic macro may not express the new mechanic. For Holy, decide which party benefits from Light’s Vigil before the Holy Shock that triggers it. These are different kinds of setup, so one generic “press on cooldown” rule is too coarse.
The Paladin decision guide separates the supporting preview text from our analysis. Open the Paladin calculator to check the prerequisites and what you give up to reach each enabling talent. The preview has not established an optimal rotation or final stat ranking.
Know the limits
Blizzard explicitly preserves gaps in the toolkit: Paladins still lack an interrupt and have fewer slowing and ranged options than some classes. Their strengths against Undead and Demons remain part of the identity.
