Gear & Stat Changes

Updated 2026-09-16

On this page

Forever revisits familiar equipment so that gearing choices fit a wider range of roles and activities. A familiar item name is not a guarantee that its old Classic stats remain the best guide.

Hit and critical chance

Spell, melee, and ranged hit chance are combined. The same consolidation applies to critical chance. Hybrid characters can benefit from stats across different kinds of attacks, while utility abilities also gain from more consistent hit behavior.

Healing and spell weapons

Bonus healing includes one third as much bonus damage. This gives healing-focused characters more support while questing. Spellcaster-oriented weapons also receive spell damage and healing, giving casters more meaningful weapon upgrades while leveling.

Weapon skill and avoidance

Weapon skill keeps its familiar function, but individual items grant less of it. Other new stats can reduce the chance that attacks are dodged or parried. These changes encourage comparing the whole item rather than treating one stat as an automatic answer.

Encounter-specific choices

Blizzard describes effects tied to terrain such as Woodlands, Mountains, or Deserts, along with creature-specific benefits. Trinkets are intended to provide more varied situational choices.

Rewards across the world

Dungeon drops have been reviewed, set bonuses adjusted, and new drops added. Quest rewards also gain alternatives for more roles. Mor’ladim’s quest, for example, adds a caster ring option alongside its familiar sword reward.

When choosing an upgrade, consider your current role and the content you are about to play. A single universal ranking cannot capture every situational effect.
